Searching for examples of portraits from past masters lead me to the work of Sir Henry Raeburn. This is a portrait detail of John Johnstone taken from the painting "John Johnstone, Betty Johnstone, and Miss Wedderburn". This sketch was done freehand as an excercise in portraiture.

The drawing was completed with 2B and 6B pencils and measures 6 inches by 7 inches.
