Abraham Lincoln, portrait - oil on canvas
A favorite subject of mine, whether it is related to art or history, is the 16th President of the United States. Abraham Lincoln admitted that his features were not the most pleasant to look upon, but they make for an interesting portrait nonetheless.

The portrait was a commission piece and was completed in just under six months time. For the references photos, the canvas had not yet been varnished to give the painting an even sheen, which meant that some of the darks in the portrait had oxidized slightly making photos of the finished painting difficult in reporducing.

The painting is done in oils and measures approximately 24 inches by 30 inches.
