The Gallery: Painting

Painting in oils gives you the sense that you are stepping up with the old names of art (on good days), and commisserating with everyone else who has suffered trying to get a handle on painting a small shrub that looks just right in the setting sun. It is not easy, to say the least.

I began my foray into oils in 2003, and have had an off, then back on, then off again relationship with it. If it takes 10,000 hours of practice to truly master a given subject, than I need about 9,900 hours to go to really get the ins and outs of oils. That is for the future of course, but this is what I have conjured up so far in my brief history with the medium. Below are a few examples of finished (or nearly finished) works.
